Two roundabouts planned for Xanthi's coastal area
Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (AMTH), Christodoulos Topsidis, announced the construction of two roundabouts in Avdira and Maggana during a visit to the proposed sites on Thursday, November 28, 2024. These projects, part of a broader road safety initiative, aim to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly during summer, and reduce accidents.
Governor Topsidis emphasized the administration's commitment to road safety, stating, “We don’t just organize road safety events; we implement projects that enhance driving conditions across our region." Drawing from international experience and local success stories, he highlighted roundabouts as effective solutions for improving traffic flow and safety.
The projects are part of a larger plan to maintain and upgrade Xanthi's road infrastructure. The Regional Governor praised the technical teams for their efficient planning and swift project tendering.
Local stakeholders, including the Mayor of Avdira, George Tsitiridis, expressed their support, noting the community's decade-long demand for these improvements and their anticipated impact on regional development and job creation
