New "THE GRECIALS" Honey Packaging and Standardization Unit inaugurated

The investment cost approached one million euros, entirely funded by SEKE's own resources.

The inauguration was attended by former Prime Minister and President of the SEKE group of companies, Konstantinos Karamanlis, the Deputy Regional Governor of Xanthi, Polyxeni Brika, mayors Stratos Kontos (Xanthi) and Giorgos Tsitiridis (Abdera), along with municipal councilors, cooperators, and union presidents.

The new unit can process up to 7 tons of honey per 8-hour shift and handle even the most delicate and demanding varieties of Greek honey, ensuring that the production process respects the environment by implementing waste management systems and eco-friendly practices.

The raw materials come from cooperative producers across Greece, from Evros to Crete and the Aegean Islands, with strict quality analysis to ensure high standards and added value in a highly competitive market.

SEKE’s CEO, Alexandros Kontos, highlighted the company's continuous growth since 1947, emphasizing its success in becoming the largest tobacco company in Greece and Southeast Europe. He also discussed the expansion of the "THE GRECIALS" product line, which includes extra virgin olive oil, pomegranate juice, olives, and honey, with plans to add further quality and innovative agrifood products from various regions of Greece, including Thrace.

He concluded by emphasizing the company's commitment to producing honey in a way that preserves its natural qualities, rather than turning it into a mere industrial product.
