Dendias: Türkiye has come a long way in shipbuilding

Defence Minister Nikos Dendias addressed the requirements of the Greek Armed Forces in his speech in the Parliament before the parliamentary vote on the establishment of the Greek Defence Innovation Centre. Dendias said that the Greek Navy had fallen behind during the economic crisis and that this deficit needed to be compensated.

Pointing to Greece's geographical proximity to Ukraine and Palestine, Dendias said: "If a neighbour questions our sovereignty, our sovereign rights, international agreements on the definition of minorities, this is a threat to our existence. Both the legal and geographical borders of our country are threatened."

"TÜRKİYE HAS COME A LONG WAY IN SHIPBUILDING"
On the other hand, Dendias commented on the progress in shipbuilding in Türkiye:

"Türkiye has indeed entered a great field of shipbuilding and raw material acquisition. Greece has always strived for supremacy on the seas, even in the ancient city-state period. The Navy needs a modernisation. We fell behind during the crisis years, we could not find the money to maintain our platforms and systems. This time must be compensated."
