Burglars steal over €1 million in cash and jewelry from Athens home

A burglary with a haul of over €1 million took place on December 26 at the northern Athens home of a 62-year-old woman from a well-known business family, it was revealed on Thursday.

The crime went unnoticed until the owner returned home from a vacation.

According to reports, the perpetrators forced open a window to break into the single-family home in Filothei, northern Athens, shortly after 6:30 PM.

Once inside, the burglars removed a safe containing €30,000–€40,000 in cash, along with a collection of jewelry valued at approximately €1 million.

The investigation to find the culprits is ongoing.
