Ahmed Hasanov has been elected Chief Mufti of Bulgaria's Muslim community following a National Muslim Conference held in Sofia, where delegates voted to select the country's highest Islamic religious authority. The election marks a leadership transition within one of the Balkans' largest Muslim institutions.

Hasanov, who previously served as Deputy Chief Mufti, received the support of more than 700 delegates participating in the conference. His election follows a campaign in which he emphasized strengthening religious services, enhancing youth education, and reinforcing the institutional capacity of the Chief Mufti's Office.

The conference also elected new governing bodies for the Muslim denomination in Bulgaria. Outgoing Chief Mufti Dr. Mustafa Aliş Hacı was elected to lead the Supreme Muslim Council, ensuring continuity within the institution's leadership structure.

Bulgaria is home to a sizeable Muslim population, and the Chief Mufti's Office plays a central role in coordinating religious, educational, and community affairs across the country.
