Turkish Foreign Minister congratulates Mufti İbrahim Şerif
The Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, who was re-elected president at the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board meeting, was congratulated by the Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu.
Members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board held a meeting in Xanthi Turkish Union to determine the management of the new period. As a result of the meeting, the chairman, vice presidents and secretary of the board were determined.
Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu congratulated the Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, who was re-elected as the chairman of BTTADK, with a post he shared on his Twitter account.
Minister Çavuşoğlu also reminded Greece that respect of the election of Muftis by the Minority is a requirement of the Treaty of Lausanne.
Minister Çavuşoğlu said, "I congratulate the Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, who was re-elected as the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, and wish him continued success. I remind Greece once again that respect for the Muftis elected by the Minority is a requirement of the Treaty of Lausanne."
