Turkey protects fundamental rights of refugees, senior government official says
International organizations, including the UN, have hailed Turkey's efforts on refugees, a senior Turkish official said Thursday.
Speaking at the Asian Forum on Human Rights, Hakan Cavusoglu, chairman of the parliamentary committee on human rights, said Turkey guarantees fundamental rights of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.
The two-day forum which ends Friday was organized by the Uzbek government, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and UN to mark 70 years to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
More than 120 officials from 100 countries are attending the forum.
Turkey hosts 3.5 million Syrian refugees, more than any other country in the world.
