Crimes committed by far-right people in Germany are on the rise again
AA correspondent compiled the data in the government's responses to the parliamentary questions regarding the crimes committed by the far-right, and in the reports prepared by the Federal Criminal Office.
It was recorded that extreme right-wingers committed 20 thousand 520 crimes in 2017, 20 thousand 431 in 2018 and 22 thousand 342 crimes in 2019 in Germany .
The number of crimes committed by the far-right, which reached a record 23 thousand 604 in 2020 , was determined as 21 thousand 964 in 2021.
The number of crimes committed by the far-right increased again in 2022 and was determined as 23 thousand 83. The final report on the subject will be announced in the coming months. It is stated that the number may exceed the record level in 2022.
While a significant portion of the crimes in question were recorded as propaganda crimes, extreme right- wingers committed 1138 acts of violence in 2022.
According to the government's responses to the parliamentary questions, the violence in question increased.
While 1156 acts of violence were committed by the far-right in 2018 , this number was recorded as 986 in 2019, 1092 in 2020 and 1042 in 20221.
“ Anti-Islamic crimes ” at high level
At least 569 crimes were committed against mosques and Muslims in Germany in 2022.
According to the answers given by the German government to the parliamentary questions, 112 crimes were recorded in the first quarter of 2022, 132 in the second quarter, 174 in the third quarter and 151 in the fourth quarter of 2022 within the scope of anti-Islamic crimes .
It was stated that these were crimes such as inciting the public, injuring, insulting, threatening, damaging property or using unconstitutional symbols .
While 25 people were injured as part of the attacks against Muslims, the mosque was attacked at least 45 times last year, including 9 in the first quarter, 11 in the second quarter, 14 in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth quarter of 2022.
It was reported that the perpetrators of the majority of the crimes and attacks in question were extreme right-wingers .
The actual numbers are expected to be higher, as the final report on the subject will be announced in a few months.
Anti-Semitic accusations
In 2022, a total of 2,639 crimes against Jews were committed in Germany .
While 788 crimes were committed in the first quarter of 2022, 692 in the second quarter, 653 in the third quarter and 506 in the fourth quarter, it was reported that 88 of them were acts of antisemitic violence. A total of 31 people were injured in these incidents.
Attacks on refugees on the rise
In 2022, there was a serious increase in attacks on refugee hostels in Germany .
According to government data, there were 121 attacks on refugee homes in 2022.
While 70 attacks against refugee hostels were recorded in 2021, these attacks increased by 73 percent in 2022.
In 2022, there were also 1248 attacks against asylum seekers or refugees outside of their shelters. This number was recorded as 1259 in 2021.
