Al-Ummah platform to promote research-based policy dialogue

A new multilingual journal and digital platform aimed at promoting research-based policy discussions and strengthening intellectual cooperation across the Muslim world has been launched in Bangladesh.

Unveiled by the Al-Ummah Foundation at a ceremony in Dhaka, the platform will publish content in Bengali, English, Arabic and Turkish, bringing together researchers, academics, policymakers, journalists and young scholars to examine geopolitical, economic, technological and cultural issues.

Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said the rapid growth of digital communication has expanded access to information but also increased the spread of misinformation and social polarization.

He stressed the need for credible, knowledge-driven initiatives that promote responsible dialogue and strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and the wider international community.

Focus on evidence-based policymaking

Among the keynote speakers, Turkish academic and former presidential adviser Yasin Aktay said the Muslim world needs to build stronger links between research and practical policymaking, adding that initiatives such as Al-Ummah could encourage intellectual cooperation and informed public debate.

Former Bangladeshi religious affairs adviser A F M Khalid Hossain said today's political, economic and technological challenges, including advances in artificial intelligence, require responsible research and knowledge-based leadership.

Al-Ummah Foundation Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Mohammed Zakir Hossain said the platform aims to strengthen the Muslim world's intellectual voice through research, constructive dialogue and responsible journalism rather than ideology.

The launch brought together academics, policy experts and media professionals from several countries. Discussions focused on information integrity in the age of artificial intelligence, education, Islamic finance, technology and cooperation among member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Organizers said the platform will publish research papers, policy analyses, opinion articles and special reports, with plans to expand into additional languages and establish Al-Ummah as an international hub for evidence-based policy dialogue.
