YTB pays tribute to Dr. Sadık Ahmet: “His cause lives on”
The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) honored Dr. Sadık Ahmet, one of the most prominent leaders of the Turkish Minority in Western Thrace, on the anniversary of his passing with a message shared on its official platforms.
The tribute began with one of Dr. Ahmet’s most iconic statements:
“We want to live like humans, we want to live like Turks.”
In its message, YTB stated:
“We remember Dr. Sadık Ahmet, the leader of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, with mercy on the anniversary of his passing. His fight for identity and rights in the face of Greece’s denial policies continues to this day.”
In addition, YTB published a special feature on its official website, offering a comprehensive overview of Dr. Ahmet’s life and detailing the systematic pressures faced by Western Thrace Turks.
The message emphasized that the struggle led by Dr. Sadık Ahmet remains a living legacy, and that Türkiye stands in solidarity with the continued efforts of the Turkish Minority to uphold their identity, rights, and cultural existence.
