Thousands of cognates from different villages attended the iftar given by Yassıköy (Iasmos) Youth last night. Young people conquered the hearts of their kinsmen this year with their services.
One of the iftars that have become traditional in Western Thrace is held in Yassıköy. Under the leadership of Yassıköy Youth, with the support of families living in the village, one of the biggest iftar tables in Western Thrace is organized in terms of participation.
Yassıköy Youth 4th Traditional Iftar Table was organized last night. During the fast-breaking dinner at Yassıköy Football Field, the young girls, boys, cooks of the village, and the volunteer team of 300 men and women working in filling the meals provided a great service to the participants.
The kinsmen who participated in the iftar were greeted with a smiling face by some of the young girls at the entrance of the football field. The dressing of the young people serving in the organization in the same color added a different beauty to the hundreds of tables set up.
Before iftar, hymns were sung by Yassıköy Qur'an Course students. With the call to prayer of Yassıköy Religious Official Mehmet Hafız Mehmet, the compatriots broke their fast.
Dates, soup, pilaf with meat, semolina halva, water, and MAX buttermilk were served to the kinsmen at the iftar table.
The meal prayer was made by the Mufti of Gümülcine (Komotini), İbrahim Şerif, and then the protocol speeches started.
Doğuş Şükrü, who gave information on behalf of the Yassıköy Youth, made a short speech, and then the Mufti of Gümülcine İbrahim Şerif, FEP Party Chairman Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Yassıköy Mayor Önder Mümin, SYRIZA Rhodope Provincial Organization Deputy Chairman Özgür Ferhat speaking on behalf of Yassıköy Youth, and motherland Turkey. Abdulhadi Turus, Vice President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), who attended the iftar, made a speech.
