Xanthi Turkish Union (ITB) paid a working visit to the European Council in Strasbourg, France.

Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of Xanthi Turkish Union (İTB), and İlker Çavuşoğlu, a lawyer from the İTB Legal Advisor, held talks in Strasbourg, France, on June 2-3, 2022. The study visit was made before the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers meeting, which will be held on June 8-10 and is expected to be on the agenda of the ECtHR decisions that are not implemented.

İTB President Ozan Ahmetoğlu and Lawyer İlker Çavuşoğlu, regarding the decisions of Xanthi Turkish Union and other Turkish minority associations in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) but not implemented by Greece for 14 years, met with the Secretariat of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Executive Office of the ECtHR and the International Civil Civil Rights of the Council of Europe. He held meetings with the Presidency of the Conference of Community Organizations.

During the meetings, the victimization caused by the 14-year non-implementation of the ECtHR judgments by Greece about the Xanthi Turkish Union and the Turkish associations in Western Thrace was explained once again. The importance of keeping the follow-up of the enforcement process regarding minority cases, known as the "Bekirusta Litigation Group", on the agenda was emphasized. During the meetings, the latest developments on the subject were also discussed. ITB President Ozan Ahmetoğlu and ITB Legal Adviser İlker Çavuşoğlu once again expressed their demand for the full and complete implementation of the ECtHR judgments regarding the Western Thrace Turkish minority cases called the "Bekirusta Litigation Group". In this context, the importance and necessity of following the decisions of the "Bekirusta Litigation Group" by the Committee of Ministers of the European Council was stated. In addition, it was emphasized that the hearings of the Rhodope Province Turkish Women Cultural Association and the Meriç Province Minority Youth Association, which are in the "Bekirusta Litigation Group", were held and that both cases in the Greek Court of Cassation (Arios Pagos) Court are still at the decision stage, and it was emphasized that the two case decisions are eagerly awaited. . During their visit to Strasbourg, the Xanthi Turkish Union delegation also visited Turkey's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe and met with Ambassador Kaan Esener and his colleagues.
