Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School reached the highest number of graduates in its history, giving 139 graduates as of the 2021-2022 academic year.
The graduation ceremony of the only Minority High School in Xanthi took place on Friday, June 24, at the Apollon Hall. The hall of about 1000 people was completely filled.
Families and relatives of graduating students and other guests shared the excitement of graduation. The family, teachers, and school administrators as well as many guests did not leave the 139 graduates of Xanthi Minority High School alone on this meaningful day.
Turkey's Consul General to Komotini, Murat Ömeroğlu, Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Komotini, İbrahim Şerif, Xanthi Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek, Mayor of Mustafçova Rıdvan Delihüseyin, President of the Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association, Hüseyin Baltacı, Board of Councilors and School Family Board, administrators, school management, teachers and relatives of students participated.
In the message published on the social media account of the Consulate General of Komotini, "We are at the traditional graduation ceremony of Xanthi Minority High School. We congratulate our 139 young brothers, and sisters, and their families who are preparing to turn a new page in their lives. We congratulate the school administration, family unity, and teachers.
The graduation ceremony, which was organized under the leadership of the Parent-Teacher Association, started with the cinevision show. Then, the President of the Parent-Teacher Association Bingül Tuzlacı made a speech about the meaning and importance of the day and congratulated the students and their families.
Afterwards, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Erhan Hüseyin Ali, thanked the school administrators, the Parent-Teacher Association and all the teachers for their efforts to make the school work in the best possible way. The Chairman of the Committee also thanked the Mathematics Teacher Doğan Tütüncü Mustafa and Chemistry Teacher Metin Hoçka for their great efforts in the maintenance and arrangement of the sports facilities of Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School, and plaques were presented to these two teachers.
The Parent-Teacher Association also presented a plaque to Erhan Hüseyin Ali, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, whose term ended this year, thanking him for his contributions to the school.
Later, Deputy School Principal Ms. Stergianidou Evaggelia, School Principal Selçuk Fehmi, Mustafaçova Mayor Rıdvan Delihüseyin, and Xanthi Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek made speeches and congratulated the students, teachers, and their families.
The graduation program continued with the poems read by the students and other performances. Finally, 139 graduate students were presented their diplomas by their teachers.
After the graduation ceremony, plaques were presented to the students who graduated with honors. Firstly, Selen Yılmaz and Havin Halitoğlu, who graduated third in the school with an average of 19.7, presented their plaques to Erhan Hüseyin Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Hüseyin Molla Ahmet, who graduated second in the school with an average of 19.8, was presented with his plaque by the Deputy Principal of the School, Stergianidou Evaggelia. Finally, the school principal Selçuk Fehmi presented the plaques of Kevser Veli and Zeren Izem Cemalioğlu, who graduated from Xanthi Minority High School with an average of 19.9 and ranked first.
After the diploma and plaque presentation, the students all celebrated their graduation by throwing their caps into the air.
