Woman arrested after false bomb threat at Gümülcine Courthouse
According to authorities, the suspect was detained on March 10 by officers from the Crime Investigation and Detection Department of the Rodopi Police Directorate.
False Bomb Alert Triggered Security Protocol
Shortly before the arrest, the emergency response center received text messages from a phone number reporting the alleged placement of a bomb at the Komotini Courthouse.
The report prompted an immediate police response. Security forces were deployed to the area and standard inspection protocols were activated in order to protect people present at the courthouse and verify whether any explosive threat existed.
Authorities later confirmed that the alert was a hoax.
Police Investigation Leads to Arrest
Following a rapid investigation into the origin of the messages, police identified and arrested the woman suspected of sending the false alerts.
During the arrest, officers also found and confiscated:
- 62 narcotic tablets without a required medical prescription
- A small quantity of raw cannabis stored in a nylon package
- A mobile phone believed to have been used to send the messages
- Charges Filed
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect for:
- Dissemination of false information
- Disruption of public service operations
- Violations of legislation related to addictive substances
- The suspect is expected to appear before the prosecutor at the Rodopi Court of First Instance, while the
- investigation is being conducted by the Crime Investigation and Detection Department of Gümülcine.
