What happens with the indoor swimming pool in Komotini
The main opposition of the Municipality of Komotini wants a solution to the operation of the indoor swimming pool.
Common Vision, the main opposition of the Municipality of Komotini, requested from the mayor to find an immediate solution to the operation of the indoor swimming pool.
The main opposition of the Municipality of Komotini, the Common Vision group, brought up the issue of the re-operation of the indoor swimming pool, which is not in operation. The main opposition, in its statement on the subject, stated that they demanded an urgent solution to the operation of the indoor swimming pool from the Mayor of Komotini, Yannis Garanis.
The Joint Vision team headed by Antonis Gravanis stated the following in a statement to bring the indoor swimming pool back into action:
"We demand an urgent solution from the Mayor of Komotini to the operation of the indoor swimming pool.
A few months ago, the Municipality of Xanthi announced the reopening of the city's indoor swimming pool, 11 years after its last day of activity. The official opening of the building is scheduled for next Sunday.
In the middle of the month, Xanthi Municipality announced that the works are prepared for the supply and installation of the second prefabricated swimming pool.
There is also a municipal indoor swimming pool in Komotini, which the municipality has kept closed for at least ten years.
If the university swimming pool of the Democritus University of Thrace had not been hosted, the city of Komotini, its people, would have been deprived of a basic infrastructure, like many infrastructures lost in recent years. Typical example is the Pandrossos camps.
We also expect the municipality's outdoor playgrounds, adjacent to the indoor swimming pool, to be completed three years later, but nothing newer about them.
The reason why the swimming pool of the city of Komotini was not put into operation is the inefficiency and carelessness of the Garanis management. The scar of abandonment is so strong that, unfortunately, it continues to emerge over time and we doubt that the situation can be reversed.
It is now known and proven that the municipal official of Mr. Yiannis Garanis lacks the will and ability to demand, let alone implement any project that improves the quality of life of citizens.
We demand from the Mayor of Komotini, Garanis, that all measures be taken to modernize, improve and hand over the swimming pool to the citizens."
