Western Thrace Youth gather at Karacaali Youth Camp in Bursa
Young Turks from Western Thrace came together at the Karacaali Youth Camp in Bursa from July 7–11, 2025, in a program organized by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Participants included members from the Youth Branch of the Xanthi Turkish Union, the Youth Muftiate of Xanthi, the New Generation Branch of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union, Komotini Muftiate, students from the Balkan Youth School of BİHLİMDER, and youth from the Evros region.
A Week Full of Sports, Arts, and Brotherhood
Throughout the week, participants engaged in a wide range of activities combining fun with personal development. From sports such as swimming, canoeing, archery, chess, and mangala, to creative workshops in theater, traditional Turkish paper marbling (ebru), and filography, the camp offered diverse experiences.
Encounter with History: Tour of Bursa
On Wednesday, July 9, the youth took part in a city tour of Bursa, exploring its rich historical and cultural heritage. Key sites visited included the Grand Mosque (Ulu Camii), the tombs of Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi, and the Green Tomb (Yeşil Türbe).
Strengthening Solidarity and Connections
On the third day of the camp, representatives from the Western Thrace Turkish Solidarity Association’s Bursa branch visited and engaged in dialogue with the youth, offering messages of solidarity. The visit provided a meaningful opportunity for connection and mutual understanding.
Farewell Program and Closing Ceremony
The camp concluded with a farewell event on the final day, attended by the Provincial Director of Youth and Sports of Bursa. The closing included educational and motivational sessions held with the youth, marking a fitting end to the enriching experience.
A Message of Gratitude
Participants expressed heartfelt thanks to YTB and the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports for organizing the camp. They emphasized that the Karacaali Youth Camp was a valuable initiative fostering unity, strengthening cultural ties, and bringing young people together in a spirit of friendship and learning.
