Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Association launches “Gallipoli Wars and Victories” story competition
The Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Association (BTTÖB) has announced a student story-writing competition themed “Gallipoli Wars and Victories,” marking the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign and aiming to preserve historical awareness among younger generations.
Organized by Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Association (BTTÖB), the initiative seeks to promote literary creativity while reinforcing historical consciousness linked to the legacy of the Gallipoli campaign.
Emphasis on Historical Memory
In its official statement, the association highlighted the importance of honoring the memory of ancestors who lived across a geography stretching from Ioannina to Didymoteicho, underlining the need to pass on the “spirit of Gallipoli” to future generations.
The competition is open to students in Western Thrace across three educational categories:
- Primary school
- Middle school
- High school
Awards and Key Dates
The top three entries in each category will receive awards. Organizers encourage broad participation from students throughout the Western Thrace region.

Award ceremony: March 28, 2026 (Saturday) at 14:30
