Western Thrace Turkish children celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, an event for children was organised in Komotini on Saturday, 18 November 2023, with the participation of educator Hande Ertem Ergün.
Children showed great interest in the event organised by the Western Thrace Minority Culture and Education Company (BAKEŞ) today at 15.00 at the local of the Turkish Youth Union in Komotini.
The event was also attended by the President of the Friendship Equality Peace Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, President of the Western Thrace Culture and Education Company Hüseyin Bostancı and Director Pervin Hayrullah and President of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union Sedat Hasan together with the children and their parents.
The event started with a minute of silence in memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, his comrades-in-arms and all martyrs who died for the sake of the homeland. Then the National Anthem was read.
At the end of the programme, educator Hande Ertem Ergün and the children recited poems about Atatürk.
Afterwards, the children recited the anthem "Parla, you are 100 years old" accompanied by a cinevision show. At the end of the event, they made hand-painted pictures of Atatürk.
