Western Thrace student Ömer Hacı Karaahmet places third in Türkiye’s national adhan competition
Ömer Hacı Karaahmet, a student from Western Thrace, achieved national recognition after placing third in Türkiye’s prestigious Genç Bilaller Ezan Okuma Yarışması (Young Bilals Adhan Recitation Competition).
Ömer Hacı Karaahmet is the son of Ayhan Hacı Karaahmet, who serves as a religious official under the İskeçe Mufti Office and imam of the Çay neighborhood mosque.
Currently studying at Hakkı Demir Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in Istanbul, the young student impressed judges with his recitation performance during the nationwide competition, which highlights talented youth in Quranic recitation and the call to prayer.

The achievement sparked pride and celebration among the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, with many viewing the success as an important moment of recognition for the region’s younger generation.
