"We will be the Oscar nominee" says producer of the Sadık Ahmet movie

Some of the scenes of the film shot at different points of the city are performed at the Faculty of Architecture of Trakya University.

Işık Ahmet, wife of Sadık Ahmet and Honorary President of Friendship, Equality and Peace Party (FEP), met with students at the panel "Faculty of Architecture as a film set".

In his speech here, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu said that Sadık Ahmet was a great hero who fought for his people.

Referring to the importance of transferring Ahmet's life to the silver screen, Tabakoğlu said the following:

"It is very exciting to see Sadık Ahmet's life turned into a film. People forget, but a film both tells, teaches and grows. Turkish cinema has come to very different places. It is proud to hear that a film that can be a candidate for Oscar will come out of here. I would like to thank the film team for choosing Edirne. Edirne, which has an open air lecture theatre, can also be an open air studio."

Işık Ahmet stated that her husband fought for the rights and freedoms of Western Thrace Turks throughout her life.

Işık Ahmet expressed that they are happy that a film is being made in the name of Sadık Ahmet and said, "It means that he has done some things in his life and he deserves them. A film is being shot. We come across his name on the streets, schools, parks, bridges in Türkiye. He was a really deserving leader. Young people should know the lives of such leaders."

Tan Doğan Muzır, the General Coordinator of the film, stated that Edirne was a suitable place for the filming of the film.

Muhammet Usta, one of the producers of the film, stated that they have created a quality production with a strong cast and said, "I am already stating that we will be the Oscar nominee film of 2024 from Türkiye."
