"We do not accept the explanation that our ancestors were Greek" says head of Alevi foundation
An Alevi minority member living in the Meriç region stated that their ancestors were Greek and not Turkish.

Important issues that are closely related to Turkish kinsmen living in the Meriç region have recently appeared in both national and local Greek media.

In a news that especially disturbed Turkish kinsmen living in the region, a person known to have Alevi belief said, "Our ancestors were Greek, did we suddenly become Turkish?".

Head of the Seyyid Ali Sultan Lodge Conservation Foundation Ahmet Kara Hüseyin answered the questions of the Millet Newspaper and flatly denied the news in the Greek press and stated that there was a great reaction in the region to such news that had nothing to do with the facts.

It was stated that the person who made the statement that drew reaction in the news in the Greek press was the person who was the guard at the Seyyid Ali Sultan Lodge. However, it turned out that this information was not true.
