Two missing 16-year-old cousins found dead in Xanthi, Greece
Tragic news from Xanthi (İskeçe), where two missing 16-year-old cousins, Aytekin H. and Ege H., were found dead on Monday afternoon, July 7, 2025. The teenagers had been reported missing since the evening of July 6.
Their bodies were discovered in the area known as the “Path of Life” (Monopati Tis Zois) near the Xanthi River (Kosinthos). Rescue teams recovered the bodies from the water and transported them to Xanthi General Hospital for autopsy.
The exact cause and circumstances of their deaths will be determined following forensic examination.
The charity organization “The Smile of the Child” (To Hamogelo tou Paidiou), which coordinated search efforts after their disappearance, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic outcome and extended condolences to the families.
Xanthi’s Mufti and Head of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board, Mustafa Trampa, also released a condolence message offering sympathy and prayers for the grieving families.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing by local police authorities.
