Turks in Western Thrace donate 1.5 million euros to earthquake victims

The Turks of Western Thrace almost mobilized to help the motherland and the earthquake victims after the earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6, which caused the destruction of thousands of buildings, the death of thousands of people and the injury of thousands of people in 10 provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6 in the homeland of Türkiye.
Aid campaigns were launched in Western Thrace under the leadership of the Advisory Board for thousands of earthquake victims who lost their properties and homes in the disaster of the century.
Western Thrace Turks provided their best support in terms of both food and clothing campaigns and financial support through activities in elected muftis and associations.
The Advisory Board announced last week that the aid campaigns for food and clothing items in Western Thrace have ended, but financial aid continues, and benefactors who want to provide financial aid can deliver the money to the mufti.

İbrahim Şerif, Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Komotini, was a guest on A HABER channel today and gave information about the aid provided to earthquake victims in Western Thrace.
Mufti İbrahim Şerif stated that 15 trucks of humanitarian aid were collected from the aid campaigns organized by the Western Thrace Turks, and the financial aid was 1.5 million Euros.
As it will be remembered, on the occasion of the Miraç Night the Mufti of Komotini organized a religious programat the Komotini Kırmahalle Mosque to donate the souls of those who lost their lives in the great earthquakes. In this program, Mufti İbrahim Şerif, who preached to the public in the mosque, also informed the congregation about the campaigns organized by the Western Thrace Turks for the benefit of the earthquake victims.
Mufti İbrahim Şerif, in his speech, stated that 1.25 million euros were collected from the aid campaigns initiated by the Advisory Board, and that apart from the Advisory Board campaigns, other financial aids from Western Thrace were approximately 250 thousand euros, and a total of 1.5 million euros from Western Thrace.
