Turkologist Doğuş Şükrü successfully completes Master’s degree
According to a statement released by Trakya University, Doğuş Şükrü, a graduate student in the Department of Turkish Literature, successfully defended his master’s thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yüksel Topaloğlu.
The thesis, titled “The Image of the Idealist Teacher and Their Struggle for Survival in Reşat Nuri Güntekin’s Çalıkuşu and Stratis Myrivilis’s The Teacher with the Golden Eyes,” was defended on 6 February 2026 and was approved by the jury.
The study offers a comparative analysis of teacher characters in two significant works of Turkish and Greek literature, examining the concept of the idealist teacher and their struggles within challenging social conditions.
In its statement, Trakya University congratulated both Doğuş Şükrü and his thesis advisor Prof. Dr. Yüksel Topaloğlu, wishing them continued success in their academic endeavors.
In addition to his academic work, Doğuş Şükrü is also well known for his contributions to the press and publishing field. He is expected to continue making valuable contributions to studies in Turkish language and literature in the future.
