The ships belonging to the Coast Guard Command of the two countries will carry out patrol missions to prevent illegal migration simultaneously as a result of mutual communication.

It is stated that the cooperation between Greece and Turkey started last September and that the bilateral meeting between Themistoklis Demiris, the head of Greece's National Intelligence Organisation, and İbrahim Kalın, the head of Türkiye's National Intelligence Organisation, played an important role in this cooperation.

It is emphasised that the recent visit of the Minister of Maritime and Island Policies, Christos Stilianidis, to Turkey and his meeting with the Turkish Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya was also very important in terms of mutual cooperation.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the Turkish Interior Minister will visit Athens on 21 February and will meet with the three Greek ministers dealing with migration (Ministers of Migration and Asylum, Civil Protection and Maritime Affairs).
