Turkish Cuisine Week brings cultural gathering to Western Thrace
A meaningful cultural event was held in Western Thrace as part of the annual Turkish Cuisine Week celebrations, bringing together educators and community representatives under the theme “Heritage on One Table.”
The event was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Gümülcine and hosted at a restaurant in Yassıköy.
Teachers from the Gümülcine Turkish Youth Union and the İskeçe Turkish Union language and cultural courses attended the gathering, where participants had the opportunity to experience traditional Turkish cuisine and strengthen social ties.
According to a statement shared by the Turkish Consulate on social media, the event aimed to introduce the deep-rooted culinary heritage of Turkish cuisine while fostering unity and cultural interaction among participants.
The Western Thrace Turkish Women's Platform also expressed appreciation for the event and thanked the Consulate General for the invitation.
In its statement, the platform noted:
“We had the opportunity to socialize with teachers from GTGB and İTB courses during the dinner organized by the Turkish Consulate General in Gümülcine for Turkish Cuisine Week. We would like to thank Consul General Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal for their kind invitation.”
Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal were recognized for hosting the gathering, which contributed to strengthening cultural bonds and solidarity among Turkish institutions in Western Thrace.
