Tsitiridis also targets Hemetli Mosque
Bulustra (Avdira) Mayor Tsitiridis, who destroyed the Turkish cemetery of Horozlu (Petinos), also targets the destruction of the historical Hemetli Mosque.

İskeçe (Xanthi) Mufti Ahmet Mete made striking statements today about the Turkish Cemetery of Horozlu (Petinos), which was destroyed by Bulustra (Avdira) Mayor Tsitiridis

In his statement, Mufti Mete condemned those responsible for the destruction of the historical Turkish cemetery in Horozlu with construction machinery and called on Mayor Tsitiridis.

Mete stated that as citizens, it is necessary to fight against the all-out offensive and disrespectful mentality, regardless of religion, regardless of who is the attack on their holy ones. He stressed that if this is not done, such incidents cannot be prevented.

Condemning the looting of the cemetery, Mufti of Xanthi Ahmet Mete emphasized that our society should be vigilant in the face of such events and that such racists should not be voted in the elections.

“Actually, these events should keep us alive. Because, since this person (Tsitiridis) has committed such an ugly treatment in the Horozlu cemetery today, he will come to the Hemetli Mosque tomorrow and want to demolish the mosque,” Mete said.

The Mufti of Xanthi Ahmet Mete reminded of Bulustra Mayor Tsitiridis' project to destroy the mosque by crossing the historical mosque in Hemetli village a few months ago.

As it will be remembered, the decision taken by Bulustra Municipality on September 11, 2021 destroys an important part of the historical Hemitli Mosque. The members of the Turkish Minority council, who opposed this decision, invited Bulustra Mayor Giorgos Tsitiridis to duty with a press release to cancel the decision.

According to the information obtained, it is understood that Bulustra Mayor Giorgos Tsitiridis actually wanted to destroy the historical mosque in Hemetli village with a road widening project prepared and passed by the council in 2021.

Details of the project, which will cause the destruction of Hemetli Mosque under the pretext of widening the road, can be viewed on the municipality's Youtube channel at the online meeting held on 11.10.2021.

In the section of the video between 22.45-41.00, there are discussions about the project, which was passed by the mayor Tsitiridis but was re-negotiated for cancellation after the objections of some council members.

As Mufti Ahmet Mete said in the discussions that attracted attention, it is understood that after the Horozlu cemetery, the Hemetli Mosque will be demolished as well.

At the meeting, some Christian council members of the opposition strongly said "YES" to the cancellation of the project, which envisages the destruction of the Hemetli Mosque, while Kadri Demir (40.16), the deputy of the mayor Çitiridis, known as a Turk and a Muslim, said "NO" to the cancellation of the project.

After these images, it is better understood why Mufti Mete called on Tsitiridis' assistant and adviser, known as a Muslim and Turk, to resign.
