Traditional mahya gathering held in Kozlardere
Organized by the residents of Kozlardere, the event began with the recitation of the Quran, followed by the reading of the Mevlid-i Şerif and religious hymns performed by local religious officials.
Addressing participants, Gümülcine Mufti İbrahim Şerif emphasized the importance of preserving the centuries-old mahya tradition, describing it as a cultural and religious practice that strengthens community solidarity and social cohesion.
Among those attending the event were Gümülcine Mufti İbrahim Şerif, Rhodope MP Özgür Ferhat, Yassıköy Mayor Caner İmam, Friendship Equality Peace (DEB) Party Chair Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Deputy Regional Governor Rıdvan Molla İsa, Gümülcine Turkish Youth Union President Sedat Hasan, Regional Governor's Adviser Ahmet Osman Pehlivan, regional council members and numerous guests.
Following the religious program, residents served the traditional meal of meat pilaf and ayran to participants, continuing a long-standing custom associated with the annual gathering.
