The second 'İskeçe Culture & Art Festival' held in Şahin
The second of the "İskeçe (Xanthi) Culture & Art Festivals" organized by the Xanthi Turkish Union was held in Şahin (Echinos).

The second of the "İskeçe Culture & Art Festivals" organized by the Xanthi Turkish Union was held in Şahin. The event, which was held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, was held at Şahin Kermes Area. Many citizens attended the event organized by Xanthi Turkish Union, Şahin Education and Culture Association and Şahin Foundation Administration.

Zeynur Bargan, Head of Xanthi Turkish Union Women's Branch, hosted the event in Şahin. During the event, the end-of-year exhibitions of Şahin, Ketenlik, Mustafçova, Demircik, Elmalı, Gökçepınar, Paşevik, Dolaphan and Gökçeler Chopper – Sewing – Embroidery and Handicraft Courses were held. In addition, ITB teams presented demonstrations.

Consul Neslihan Altay, who represented Turkey's Consulate General in Komotini to the "Culture - Art Festival" held in Şahin village, Mayor of Mustafçova Rıdvan Delihüseyin, Xanthi Deputy Mufti Fatma Imam, President of Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association Dr. Hüseyin Baltacı and the host institutions, Xanthi Turkish Union President Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Şahin Foundation Administration President Sami Palikar and Şahin Association Vice President Eyüp Aguş attended.

Heads of institutions and organizations cut the opening ribbon of the exhibition together. Afterwards, the exhibitions were visited and information was obtained from the course teachers about the handcrafted works.

Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of Xanthi Turkish Union (ITB), made the opening speech of the "Culture - Art Festival" held in Şahin. In his speech, ITB President Ahmetoğlu said that after Kırköy, the second event was held in Şahin and the event here was held jointly with Şahin association and Şahin foundation management. Ozan Ahmetoğlu thanked all the participants and especially the consul Neslihan Altay, the representative of the motherland of the Republic of Turkey, for their participation and congratulated those who contributed to the organization. He emphasized that the ITB courses, beyond providing women with manual dexterity, keep the Turkish culture alive in Western Thrace, reflect its beauty and delicacy through such activities and pass it on to future generations. ITB President Ozan Ahmetoğlu stated that they will continue to keep these beauties alive.

Sami Palikar, Chairman of Şahin Foundation Administration and Eyüp Aguş, Vice President of Şahin Education and Culture Association, who took part in the organization, also expressed their satisfaction with hosting a joint event with the Xanthi Turkish Union and thanked the participants in their speeches.

The Deputy Mufti of Xanthi Fatma Imam started her speech by conveying the greetings of the mufti Ahmet Mete: "Even if our mufti is not here, our heart is with us. He always supports and shows interest in such events” she said. Deputy mufti Fatma Imam, who said that the organization was extremely successful, congratulated everyone who contributed. Fatma Imam expressed the importance of such events and said that she hoped they would be continued.

In his speech, Mayor of Mustafçova Rıdvan Delihüseyin said that he was pleased with the high participation in the event and the fact that the majority of the participants were women. Explaining that all the products, works, and colors he saw in the exhibition were very familiar to him. “These are colors and products that reflect our culture. They're all so nice. Congratulations to those involved. And I would like to thank those who have helped to keep these traditions alive.” he said.

President of the Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association, Dr. Hüseyin Baltacı also expressed his excitement at participating in such an event in Şahin in his speech. Congratulating Xanthi Turkish Union and other institutions for the organization, Baltacı emphasized the importance and beauty of keeping the beauties, traditions, and culture alive.

Consul Neslihan Altay, who attended the event representing the Consulate General of Turkey in Komotini, congratulated the organizing institutions Xanthi Turkish Union, Şahin Education and Culture Association, and Şahin Foundation Administration. She expressed her pleasure to participate in the second Xanthi Culture and Art Festival organized by the Xanthi Turkish Union. Emphasizing that she visited the exhibitions of the courses with great admiration, Neslihan Altay said, “I congratulate everyone who contributed to the comprehensive organization where our cultural richness is reflected. It is very nice and very meaningful to keep these beauties and this heritage alive.”

At the event, certificates of participation were presented to the trainees who completed the three-year process. In addition, gifts were presented to the heads and representatives of institutions and organizations participating in the event by the course teachers.

Xanthi Turkish Union President Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Deputy President Sevil Şerifoğlu and Secretary General İsmet Tüccar gave a plaque of appreciation to Şahin Association Vice President Eyüp Aguş, Şahin Foundation Administration President Sami Palikar and Mustafçova Mayor Rıdvan Delihüyesin for their contributions to the joint organization.

In the event, the songs sung by the students of the ITB and Şahin Association's Music Course in Şahin received great appreciation from the guests. ITB Folk Dance Teams and ITB Turkish Classical Music Chorus could not perform due to the heavy rain that started during the performance.

In the meantime, two boxes of books were donated to the association manager Gülcan Mümin for the library of the Şahin Education and Culture Association by the Xanthi Turkish Union.
