"The Journey of the Olive" festival draws great interest
The "Journey of the Olive" festival, organized by the School Parent-Teacher Association of Gümülcine İdadiye Turkish Minority Primary School, was successfully held on November 9, 2024, in the school garden, drawing significant attention from students, parents, and educators.
Led by the Nature and Environment Club alongside 6th-grade students, the event showcased projects and exhibitions prepared by students, which were met with admiration. The festival featured interactive activities, including harvesting olives from the schoolyard trees and learning about pruning techniques.
Participants explored the benefits of olives, proper storage of olive oil, and the uses of olive leaves. The harvested olives were taken on a short trip with the students to a local facility for oil extraction. Witnessing the production process firsthand turned into a fun and educational experience, bridging school activities with real-life learning.
The Parent-Teacher Association expressed gratitude to all contributors, particularly the 6th-grade students and "Vistonida" facility representatives for their support in olive oil production. The event highlighted the significance of community involvement and practical education.
