The enthusiasm of mahya experienced in Göynüklü

The traditional Mahya ceremony, which takes place every year in the village of Göynüklü of Inhanlı (Topiros) Municipality of Xanthi, was held with enthusiasm on Sunday, 5 November 2023.
The Mahya ceremony started with the mevlidi sharif recited in the mosque. It continued with the prayer and the speech of Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, indicating the meaning and importance of the day. Subsequently, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of Xanthi Turkish Union, Hüseyin Baltacı, President of WTMUGA, Sunay Hüseyinoğlu, Deputy Mayor, Burhan Baran, MP and Aykut Ünal, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Komotini made welcoming speeches and congratulated and thanked the people of the village and those who contributed to the realisation of the mahya.

After the mevlid ceremony and speeches in the mosque, the participants were served meat pilaf and ayran at the site of the mahya. Afterwards, the tomb, which was instrumental in the making of this mahya, was visited. Then the guests went to the village coffee house and had the opportunity to chat with the villagers and young people.
