Swearing-in ceremony held at Mustafçova Municipality
On 8 and 15 October 2023, the new mayor and councillors elected in the municipal elections took oath on the Holy Quran.
On Sunday 17 December, the oath-taking ceremony was held in the garden of Dolaphan Minority Primary School with a large attendance and the councillors under the new President Ahmet Kurt and the opposition general and local councillors were sworn in together.
The swearing-in ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Emrah Seh, Imam of the Masjid-i Atik Mosque in Xanthi. Then preacher Şaban Kurt, one of the religious officials of the Elected Muftiate of Xanthi, made a religious speech on the meaning of the day. Then Mehmet Ahmetçik, imam of Dolaphan, recited the Holy Qur'an. Finally, Preacher Şaban Kurt made the prayer.
After the religious ceremony and prayer, the new mayor Ahmet Kurt took the floor and made a speech.
In his speech, Mayor Kurt thanked the participants of the oath-taking ceremony and stated that they were aware that they had a difficult task ahead of them and that they would work to fulfil the mandate they received from the nation on 8 and 15 October in the best way possible.
Reminding that the Balkan branch has many problems, the new mayor Kurt said that they will pay more attention to water and cleanliness as the administration. Noting that they will work in a sincere and planned manner to find solutions to all problems, Ahmet Kurt stated that they will be open to all sincere and correct proposals from the opposition without discriminating anyone.
The swearing-in ceremony ended with all councillors repeating the oath recited in Greek by the new President Ahmet Kurt.
The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by opposition leaders Rıdvan Delihüseyin, Cemil Kabza and Mücahit Dükkancı, as well as opposition general and local councillors.
The swearing in ceremony was also attended by Mayor of Bulustra (Avdira) Yorgos Chitiridis, Mayor of Topiros Thomas Mihoğlu, President of the Xanthi Bar Association Despina Hacifotiadou, President of the Xanthi Chamber of Craftsmen Meri Çakiroğlu, President of the Xanthi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Stelios Moraitis, Police and Fire Chiefs of Xanthi, bureaucrats, municipality officials and workers and many municipality residents.
After the swearing-in ceremony, all general and local councillors present signed the minutes.
The new municipal administration served refreshments to the participants.
Mayor Ahmet Kurt and his team will take office on 1 January 2024.
According to the information obtained, Mayor Ahmet Kurt has also determined the deputy mayors and counsellors who will take office in the first term and is expected to announce the names of his colleagues in the coming days.
