Students from Xanthi Minority Middle and High School rewarded for success in Chess Tournament

Students from Xanthi Minority Middle and High School were honored for their achievement in the recent Xanthi District Inter-School Chess Tournament, where they claimed third place. The school’s Chess Team was recognized during an award ceremony held on April 11, 2025, by the School Council and the School Parents' Association.
In the ceremony, individual and team participants in the chess tournament were presented with awards, and their future success was encouraged. The President of the School Council, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, expressed his pride in the students’ success and the work of their teachers. He stated, “We are proud of our students who achieved this success and the teachers who trained them.”
Ahmetoğlu also shared plans for the future, mentioning that school teams would be established in the coming years, and emphasized his confidence that students would continue to excel in various sports as well. He concluded his speech in both Turkish and Greek by wishing all students and teachers a pleasant holiday and extended Easter greetings to the Greek teachers.
All students who participated in the chess tournament were awarded medals and personalized items, such as cups and pens. The awards were presented by the School Council members, the Parents' Association, and the school’s principal.
Additionally, the team was honored with trophies for the support of their Physical Education teacher Nuri Ahmetoğlu, Assistant Principal Aleksandridu Andreana, and Principal Sedat Hacı Arif Hasan, who accompanied the students throughout the competition.
The ceremony ended with group photos to commemorate the occasion.
In a statement, the School Council and the Parents' Association congratulated the students once again for their outstanding achievements in the chess tournament and expressed their best wishes for success in future competitions across different fields.
