Students from Balkan countries meet at YTB iftar

YTB President Abdullah Eren, who came together with students from Balkan countries, took a close interest in the students.
President Eren also visited the stand of Western Thrace Student Union BATÖB, which is a Western Thrace Student Union studying at university in Ankara from his hometown Western Thrace.
In the statement made on BATÖB's social media account, the following statements were made:
"This evening, we came together as Balkan students at the iftar programme organised for the last time at YTB.
After the iftar, we, as BATÖB, introduced our Western Thrace in the exhibition area where Balkan countries introduced themselves.
We gave information to our guests who came to our stand to get to know our homeland and culture with visuals and books, and we served our local coffee.
We would like to thank Mr. Abdullah Eren for inviting us to this beautiful night where different cultures are together in a sincere environment. We thank Abdullah Eren."
"RAMADAN IS WELCOMED WITH ENTHUSIASM IN WESTERN THRACE"
Furkan Nizam from Komotini, who is studying at Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, told AA correspondent that the traditions and customs of Türkiye and Western Thrace are similar to each other.
Nizam said, "We continue to live and keep alive the enthusiasm of Ramadan together with all the people of Western Thrace, with the minority people." and stated that the young people of Western Thrace welcome Ramadan with drums and zurna.
Nizam stated that young people take turns to play drums at every sahur in the neighbourhoods and that they have been continuing this tradition for years, and that young people collect pocket money from the people of the neighbourhood on the 15th of every Ramadan.
Nizam stated that they organise collective iftar in the villages, that they often break fast at different tables during Ramadan, that pilaf with meat, dried beans and aubergine moussaka are frequently consumed during iftar, and that they eat halva as dessert.
