Strong turnout for traditional fair organized by İskeçe minority school students
The traditional annual fair organized by final-year students of the İskeçe Minority Middle and High School drew strong participation on September 25–26, bringing together students, parents, teachers and members of the local community.
The official opening of the two-day event took place on Friday, September 25, at the school's sports grounds. Students had been preparing the fair for an extended period, with the event providing an opportunity for the school community to come together.
The opening ceremony was attended by Western Thrace Turkish Minority Consultative Council President and İskeçe Mufti Mustafa Trampa; vice consuls Ali Tosun, Umut Yamık and Onur Sezer, representing the Consulate General of Türkiye in Gümülcine; İskeçe Minority Middle and High School Board of Trustees President Ozan Ahmetoğlu; Parent-Teacher Association President Cemile Onbaşı; İskeçe MP Hüseyin Zeybek; Friendship, Equality and Peace (DEB) Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu; Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt; İskeçe Turkish Union President Kerem Abdurrahimoğlu; Association of Western Thrace Minority University Graduates President Zeynep Tevfikoğlu; Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union Vice President Caner Dayı; representatives of BAKEŞ and other local organizations, former Mustafçova mayors Cemil Kabza and Rıdvan Delihüyesin, as well as teachers, students and parents.
Representatives attending the opening delivered brief welcoming remarks and congratulated the students who contributed to organizing the event. Speakers highlighted the students' efforts during the preparation process and said the fair also provided young people with opportunities to develop social skills and gain experience in organizing events.
STUDENTS AND PARENTS CONTRIBUTE TO THE FAIR
Final-year students and their families prepared a range of food and desserts for visitors. The menu included grilled meatballs, lahmacun and çiğ köfte.
Entertainment areas prepared for children and young people also attracted considerable interest. The event gave students an opportunity to spend time with friends and family while gaining experience in cooperation, sharing responsibilities and working as a team.
SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS' EFFORTS
Parents, the school's Board of Trustees and the Parent-Teacher Association expressed satisfaction with the students' efforts and said they were pleased to support the young people in organizing the event.
The annual fair concluded after two days of strong participation, bringing together students, families and members of the local community in a social event organized by the school's final-year students.
