It was stated that Xanthi SIRIZA Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek was warned by the headquarters of his party regarding the "Western Thrace Turkish Minority" statement.
SIRIZA Party Head of Foreign Affairs Department and Athens MP Yorgos Katrugalos said that Xanthi Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek had been warned by the party headquarters about the "Western Thrace Turkish Minority" statement.
Speaking to Komotini-based radio Hronos, Katrugalos answered the question about Hüseyin Zeybek's use of the phrase "Western Thrace Turkish Minority" while giving an interview to a television channel from Türkiye.
Katrugalos stated that if the deputies have different opinions, they always intervene and remind them of SIRIZA's political line.
When asked why Hüseyin Zeybek did not withdraw his statements, Katrugalos replied: “We do not want the deputies in the parliament to express remorse, as the other deputy did. I believe that as a result of the meeting with our deputy, both sides drew the necessary conclusions.”
NOMINATED AGAIN or NOT?
Yorgos Katrugalos answered the question about whether or not Deputy Hüseyin Zeybek would be nominated again: “This is being evaluated institutionally by SIRIZA. As a leftist party, we have procedures for such a thing. However, in principle, all our deputies have a place on the ballot paper from the very beginning.”
