The seventh of the "Xanthi Turkish Union Women's Meetings" was held on Wednesday 17th May at the locale of the Turkish Union of Xanthi (ITB). During the event, Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, made a presentation on "Islam, Women and Family".

The "Women's Meetings" organised by ITB Handicraft Courses and ITB Women's Section were held this week at the ITB building where the ITB Central Sewing, Embroidery and Handicraft Course is also located.

The event was attended by Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of the ITB, Zeynur Bargan, Spokesperson of the Western Thrace Turkish Women's Platform and President of the Women's Section of the ITB, members of the Executive Board of the ITB, members of the Women's Section, spouses of the heads of minority institutions, ITB sewing and embroidery trainees and women from Xanthi.

Sevil Şerifoğlu, ITB Vice-President, who presented the event and made the opening speech, gave information about the "Women's Meetings" series of events and explained the purpose of the event and the activities they carry out.

Course instructor Sevgi Sezai also thanked everyone who participated in the event and expressed her pleasure for hosting the event.

Zeynur Bargan, Spokesperson of the Western Thrace Turkish Women's Platform and President of the Women's Section of ITB, expressed that it was a pleasure to meet with the women from Xanthi in a joint event. Bargan stated that she believes that these events organised together with ITB courses will be very useful for women.

In his welcoming speech, ITB President Ozan Ahmetoğlu thanked Mufti Mustafa Trampa for his participation in the event. Ahmetoğlu pointed out that the number of activities for women has increased recently and said: "I congratulate everyone who has contributed to these activities to be held in 15 different places in Xanthi. With the increase in immigration, the burden of women who take the responsibility of families and children is now heavier. From this point of view, we see that our women have become the cornerstone of society. Therefore, the importance of the continuation of such events and activities emerges. We would like to thank once again our honourable mufti who is a former executive of Xanthi Turkish Union."

Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, who attended the event as a speaker, emphasised the value and importance of the family in Islam in his speech on "Islam, Women and Family" and explained the importance of women in terms of society with examples.

At the end of the event, a handcrafted tray prepared in the ITB Sewing - Embroidery and Handicrafts Course was presented to Mufti Mustafa Trampa by the instructor Sevgi Sezai. In addition, jewellery prepared in the course was presented to the wives of the heads of minority institutions.

Meanwhile, the guests attending the event were served traditional foods prepared by the trainees.
