Seçek Association to host aşure offering and “Salutation to Imam Hussein” performance in Büyük Derbent
The Seçek Minority Education and Culture Association, one of the prominent civil society organizations of the Western Thrace Turkish community, will host a meaningful cultural and spiritual event on Saturday, July 19 in the village of Büyük Derbent, located in the Meriç region.
The program will feature the traditional distribution of aşure (a symbolic dessert prepared during the Islamic month of Muharram), as well as a special spiritual performance titled “Salutation to Imam Hussein.”
In a statement, the Seçek Association announced that the event is being organized in collaboration with the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Alevi-Bektashi Culture and Cemevi Presidency, and the General Directorate of Fine Arts.
The event is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM on Saturday evening, and the local community is warmly invited to attend.
With this program, the association aims to honor the spiritual legacy of Imam Hussein, foster unity, and preserve traditional values within the Western Thrace Turkish community.
