Samothrace set to host Greece’s nationwide motorcycle gathering in June 2027
Samothrace is moving closer to hosting Greece’s Nationwide Motorcycle Gathering from June 17 to 21, 2027, following positive signals from the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region and the Municipality of Samothrace.
The event, organised by the Hellenic Motorcycle Federation (MOTOE), could return to the northeastern Aegean island for the first time in 18 years. Preparations are advancing through discussions with regional and municipal authorities, according to Paratiritis News.
The Municipal Council of Samothrace has already expressed its support for the proposal. A further step was taken on October 9, when a MOTOE delegation met with Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis in Gümülcine (Komotini).
The delegation included MOTOE President Stylianos Korelis, Panagiotis Kalaitsis, a representative of the European Federation of Motorcycle Tourism, and Kritou Kritis, representing the island.
During the meeting, Topsidis confirmed his positive intention to actively support the event and help bring it to Samothrace.
NEXT STEPS AND TOURISM PROMOTION
The organisers are expected to meet with Samothrace Mayor Athanasios Vitsas to discuss the practical arrangements for the gathering. Talks are also expected to address opportunities to promote the island as a tourism destination through Europe's growing motorcycle tourism sector.
If final arrangements are completed, the June 2027 gathering would bring motorcyclists from across Greece to Samothrace, potentially providing a boost to the island's tourism profile ahead of the summer season.
