Rıdvan Topçu, Director of Religious Services Branch of Xanthi Mufti's Office participates in the international symposium
Periodicals in the Balkans: The Adventure of Islamic Thought 1918-1945, symposium was held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, on 24-25 February 2024.
Organised under the leadership of the Balkan Studies Foundation and supported by many institutions, "Periodicals in the Balkans: The Adventure of Islamic Thought 1918-1945", Rıdvan Topçu, Director of Religious Services Branch of Xanthi Muftiate from Western Thrace participated and presented a paper.
In the session on Western Thrace moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ü. Serdar Serdaroğlu from Istanbul University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamdi Çilingir from Sakarya University, Res. Asst. Şükrü Çeşme from Trakya University, and Rıdvan Topçu, the Branch Manager of Religious Services at the Xanthi Mufti's Office, presented papers. Topçu discussed the debates that took place between 1927-1930, titled "The Xanthi Mufti's Office in the Context of Debates Reflected in Yarın and Yeni Adım Newspapers," and examined the effects of these debates on the present day.
Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, was planned to participate online but could not attend the international symposium due to a technical problem at the last moment. Researchers from Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Bulgaria and Western Thrace had the opportunity to present their studies on periodicals in the Balkans.
