Representatives of Agriculture and Livestock meet with Region President Topsidis
The delegation of the Coordination Committee of the Agricultural and Livestock Unions of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region visited the President of the Region Christodoulos Topsidis and held a meeting with him at the building of the President of the Region.
The delegation told Topsidis about the problems experienced by the farmers and the sector, who organised protests to voice the problems and find a solution, and gave him a letter containing all the demands of the farmers at the meeting.
The head of the region, Mr. Topsidis, stated after the meeting: "We came to the conclusion - I took the responsibility personally - that we will call the Minister of Rural Development, Mr. Avgenakis, for a coordinated meeting here, at the Region Presidency of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, to listen to the problems of Thrace and its farmers, to document them, to find solutions".
"We recognise this struggle and effort of farmers and breeders so that we can get really positive results," Topsidis said, expressing his optimism that solutions to the problems in the sector will be brought soon.
Topsidis also said, "We have a plan with the resources of our own region. We will prioritise showing that this sector is a sector that needs to be supported."
