'Religious slaughter illegal': State council
The Court of the Council of State of Greece declared it illegal to slaughter the sacrifices without stunning in religious worship ceremonies of the Muslim and Jewish religions.

The Greek Council of State Court also annulled the joint ministry decision of 2017, which allowed the sacrifices to be slaughtered without stunning on the holy days of the Muslim and Jewish religions.

According to the decision of the Council of State, it was decided that the slaughtering of sacrificial animals without stunning was against Greek and EU legislation and was declared illegal.

The said decision was taken after the Greek Federation of Animal Lovers and Environment applied to the Council of State.
