Ramadan Duban a prominent figure in Western Thrace laid to rest

Duban’s funeral was attended by his family, relatives, friends, and many members of the Turkish minority community from across Western Thrace. Mourners gathered at his home to offer their condolences.
Among those attending the ceremony were Türkiye's Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, his wife İlayda Ünal, Xanthi MP Hüseyin Zeybek, along with several local officials and representatives from minority organizations.
Ramadan Duban, known for his contributions as an educator, farmer, writer, and activist, left a lasting legacy in Western Thrace.
In his speech, Deputy Mufti of Xanthi, Ahmet Hraloğlu, praised Duban’s lifelong service to the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, describing him as a role model. Xanthi Turkish Union President Ozan Ahmetoğlu also highlighted Duban’s multifaceted personality, emphasizing his roles as an educator, writer, and advocate. Ahmetoğlu stated, “Ramadan was not only a teacher and writer but also a farmer and beekeeper who shared his knowledge with others. He was a leader in minority organizations and a man of action when needed.”
Batuhan Hasan, Vice President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union, also spoke at the ceremony, reading a biography of Ramadan Duban, who had served as the Union's Auditing Board Chairman.
Following prayers and final respects, Ramadan Duban was laid to rest, with his loved ones bidding him farewell on his final journey.
