Public call on the occasion of the 57th anniversary
“We invite all conscientious people to find a solution to our SCHOOL BUILDING problem”
Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School Board of Trustees once again drew attention to the building problem of the school in the message published on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the establishment of the school.
In the congratulatory message published on the social media account of the Executive Committee, it was reminded that after the information about the history of the school, no response was given to all the attempts made by the school authorities for the building problem. It was stated that the callousness of the authorities, who can solve the school building problem, is extremely offensive.
In the message it published, the Committee of the Council once again shared the difficult situation and conditions at the school and invited all people of conscience for solution.
The full message, published by the Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School Committee, is as follows:
HAPPY 57th ANNIVERSARY YEAR OF ISKEÇE MINORITY SECONDARY AND HIGH SCHOOL
Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School was officially established on May 10, 1965, and the first bell rang in the building of today's Xanthi Central Turkish Primary School, known as “Küçük Okul”, on September 23 in the same year.
After 5 years have passed, in the 1970-71 academic year, the Xanthi Governorship responded to the request of Muzaffer Salihoğlu, who was the founder of the school, and the present building at the address of Hacıstavru 10, an old tobacco warehouse, was allocated to our school.
The Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School is the only secondary school in Xanthi, where minority students can receive bilingual Turkish and Greek education. It is still struggling to survive even in the year of 2022. Even in the 57th year of its establishment, the SCHOOL BUILDING problem has unfortunately turned into gangrene.
Unfortunately, in recent years, the attempts of the school administration, the Parent-Teacher Association administrations and especially the Council committees for solution have not received any positive response from the authorities.
Unfortunately, we are extremely offended by the callousness of the authorities and officials who can solve our SCHOOL BUILDING problem.
On the occasion of the 57th anniversary of our school, once again we shout out to all the public and all concerned;
Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School today has more than 720 students and 5 basement classrooms with insufficient ventilation.
There are no laboratories in our school due to space constraints.
3 students can fit in 1 square meter in the best condition in the garden of our school.
As the number of students could not fit in the school building, all of the Middle 1 branches had to come to school in the afternoon.
Because of this situation, more than 20 parents preferred to enrol their children in other schools.
Above all, the problem of SCHOOL BUILDING is reflected in the quality of education in our school day by day, and this situation upsets both parents, teachers and of course our students.
Apart from all these, many more problems that we can write here continue to affect this distinguished school in every aspect.
We would like to give positive messages on the occasion of the 57th Anniversary of our school. However, despite all the negativities, we will continue to protect our school in every way, and to take responsibility for the survival of the only Minority Secondary and High School in Xanthi for many more years.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the school administration and teachers who try to do the best for our school under all circumstances.
We would also like to thank our parents who chose our school by enduring many sacrifices, and our children who strive beyond self-sacrifice and deserve much better.
Together as the Xanthi Minority Secondary and High School Family, we celebrate our school's 57th ANNIVERSARY and invite all people of conscience to find a solution to our SCHOOL BUILDING problem.
