Parliament Speaker Şentop in Western Thrace
President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop, who arrived at Alexandroupoli Airport by plane from the motherland Türkiye, was welcomed by the Turkish Ambassador to Athens Çağatay Erciyes and Consul General of Komotini Aykut Ünal.
Şentop, who came to Komotini from Alexandroupoli by road, started his visits to Komotini in the evening with a visit to the grave of the late leader Dr. Sadık Ahmet, who fought for the rights of Western Thrace Turks.
Şentop, who prayed for the soul of the deceased at the grave, made a short speech to the cognates and other participants and shared his feelings and thoughts.
Afterwards, President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Şentop visited the Elected Mufti's Office of Komotini and was welcomed with flowers at the entrance of the Mufti's Office.
Within the framework of the visit, President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Prof. Dr Mustafa Şentop had a meeting with Mufti İbrahim Şerif. It was stated that the issues concerning the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace were discussed during the meeting which was closed to the press.
Having completed his visits in Komotini, Şentop left Komotini to attend the iftar programme to be held this evening in Koyunköy within the framework of the children and youth iftar organised by the Mufti's Office of Xanthi.
