Özgür Ferhat submits report on livestock breeders' problems to the Ministry

Rodopi MP from the New Left party, Özgür Ferhat, has submitted a report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, highlighting the urgent needs of local livestock breeders, including feed assistance and the impact of disease-related quarantine measures.
On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat of the New Left party submitted a detailed report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, based on a letter from the Rodopi Livestock Breeders Association. The report outlines the challenges faced by livestock breeders in the region, with a focus on the recent outbreak of lumpy skin disease.
Ferhat emphasized that quarantine measures imposed to prevent the spread of the disease have caused significant economic losses. While many farmers have already lost livestock, those in areas under quarantine but without reported cases have been unable to continue production due to the lack of feed assistance or state support.
The report calls for urgent aid—particularly feed subsidies—and urges the ministry to take immediate action. Ferhat also demanded that any developments be communicated transparently to both parliament and the public.
