Özgür Ferhat makes statement on livestock farmers' challenges
On November 2, 2024, Rodopi’s New Left Party MP Özgür Ferhat addressed the difficulties faced by livestock farmers. In his statement, Ferhat highlighted issues like livestock diseases and rising feed costs, expressing his commitment to closely monitor efforts aimed at alleviating these challenges.
Ferhat shared that, based on a written response from Deputy Minister of Agriculture Christos Kellas, compensation measures have been implemented for feed destroyed due to livestock disease outbreaks. He emphasized that this initiative is a significant step toward offsetting losses in the livestock sector. Additionally, Ferhat noted that the Ministry is conducting reviews to support farmers with the increasing costs of feed, which has escalated as animals are being kept in barns. He assured farmers that updates on this issue will continue to be communicated to them.
Expressing solidarity, Ferhat stated, “I fully understand the challenges you face and am doing everything in my power to find solutions. Please know that I am always by your side.”
