New Motorcycle Testing Track opens in Gümülcine to enhance driver safety and training
The facility was inaugurated on Monday, March 30, by Christodoulos Topsidis, alongside local officials and representatives from the driving education sector.
Developed by the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region, the modern testing track is designed to serve both motorcycle license candidates and active riders. Located on Filippou Street 82 within the premises of the Regional Directorate of Transport and Communications and the Rhodope regional unit, the site aims to ensure safer, more structured training and examination processes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Topsidis emphasized that the project responds to long-standing demands from driving schools while raising the overall quality of licensing exams.
“This investment allows us to provide a modern and secure environment for both candidates and instructors, improving the standards of driver education in the region,” he noted.
Attendees, including driving school representatives and trainee riders, welcomed the initiative, highlighting the importance of dedicated infrastructure for practical training and testing.
The new facility is expected to enhance road safety outcomes and streamline public services related to driver licensing. It is the second such testing site established in the region, following a similar operational facility in Alexandroupoli.
Among those present at the ceremony were regional officials including advisor Ahmet Osman Pehlivan, Deputy Regional Governor for Transport and Communications İrfan Hacigene, Rhodope Deputy Governor Emmanuil Tapacas, and Deputy Governor for Digital Transformation Rıdvan Molla İsa, along with council members and department representatives.
The project reflects broader regional efforts to modernize transport infrastructure and improve public service delivery across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
