Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association affiliated cultural institution BAKEŞ has released its 73rd publication, Lausanne’s Legacy: Greece and the Persistence of a Conventional Minority Regime, authored by Kerem Abdurahimoğlu.

The English-language book explores the cultural, social, and economic policies implemented toward the Turkish Muslim Minority of Western Thrace, focusing particularly on the discourse and influence of key actors shaping Greece’s official state ideology.

The study analyzes how political and institutional narratives have contributed to the continuity of minority governance frameworks rooted in the post-Lausanne era. It further highlights the role of influential decision-makers in shaping policies affecting minority communities in Greece.

Drawing on a rights-based perspective, the publication examines issues related to citizenship, socio-economic participation, education, and socio-cultural rights concerning the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace. The work also contextualizes contemporary developments through historical analysis and current case studies.

According to BAKEŞ, the book aims to contribute to a broader understanding of minority policies in Western Thrace while offering a fresh academic perspective on human rights and minority governance in modern Greece.

The publication is expected to attract the attention of researchers, policymakers, and international observers focusing on minority rights, Balkan studies, and Greek-Turkish relations.
