Mufti's Office of Xanthi continues to honour its veteran religious officials
Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi and Ahmet Hraloğlu, Deputy Mufti, visited Şükrü Hacı Hafız, born in 1940 in Kozluca village, in his home in Kireççiler village on Friday, 7 July 2023 within the scope of the project "Loyalty to the Elderly".
According to the statement made by the Mufti's Office of Xanthi, Şükrü Hacı Hafız, after completing primary school in his village, graduated from Paşevik Madrasah in 1958. Şükrü Hacı Hafız, who had a farmer family, made his living mostly by tobacco farming. He worked as a Ramadan teacher in almost all of the lowland and collar villages. Şükrü Hacı Hafız, who served in the villages of İnhanlı, Mıkmıllı, Zinelli, Misvaklı, Gökçeler, Kireççiler, served as imam in Kırköy for two years.
In 1970, Şükrü Hacı Hafız migrated to Kireççiler village because of the difficult living conditions in Kozluca and settled here and started to work as an imam in Kireççiler village at the same time. Until 1980, he continued his duty as imam in Kireççiler village. Explaining that he had very troubled years at that time, Hacı Hafız stated that especially the invoice of the 1974 Cyprus events was tried to be taken from the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace. Haci Hafız, who explained that the extremist groups who were disturbed by the call to prayer he recited during the years he served in Kireççiler village threatened him not to go to the mosque and not to recite the call to prayer, otherwise he would lose his life, could not control his tears while telling the events that happened to him.
Şükrü Hacı Hafız, who worked as a Friday and Ramadan imam in Mursallı village for 35 years until his retirement in 1980, did not neglect to give religious education to children by teaching them the Holy Qur'an and basic religious education.
Şükrü Hacı Hafız expressed his thanks to Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi for the visit. Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa also presented a gift to the veteran teacher in memory of the visit.
